I've always been incredibly lazy about doing my nails. I'd let the polish chip and fall off til there were just tiny spots left on my nails. It looked awful but I never really cared. It irritated the crap out of my husband though. So about six months ago I started keeping my nails nice. When the polish chipped I'd take it off and repaint. When simply painting them started to not be enough for me, I started to decorate them. This led into getting special decorating paints and brushes and fancy polish pens. Now I can't JUST paint them, I have to make them super pretty too and I'm totally loving it.
This look was created with 2 coats of Sally Hansen nailgrowth Miracle in Perfect Plum. Then I painted on stripes to make diamonds and colored in random ones with ORLY Instant Artist in Platinum. I went over the lines with the Sally Hansen nail art pen in black. To finish I used Seche Vite dry fast top coat. I LOVE this top coat! It dries all of the polish underneath it quickly and that's very important for me since I'm super clumsy and always smudge wet paint.
They look awesome! I used to paint my nails all the time, I even had a little "catalog" of my nail polish (Jess and Em made fun of me, but I think they were just jealous... ;) ) but now, I can't paint them b/c of work, b/c if I accidentally left a nail polish mark on priceless art, I'd be f*cked. Sometimes if I have 2 or more days off in a row, I might paint them, that's the only time it's worth it.
